Media Center Guidelines


Individual Student Visits to the Bobcat Media Center 

To Visit the Bobcat Media Center:

  1. Create an eHall pass in your classroom and have your teacher approve it
  2. Upon arrival at the Bobcat Media Center, (1) Check to see if your eHall pass has appeared on Mr. Pickard’s screen.            If no eHall pass has appeared, you must return to your classroom.
  3. If your eHall pass does appear on his screen, you must go to the sign-in/sign-out Station to sign into LibraryTrac.
  4. Browse the shelves for books: Right side 6th-8th Grade books; Left side  9th -12th Grade books on the left. 
  5. ### While 9th – 12th Graders can choose books from either side of the Bobcat Media Center, 6th – 8th Graders can ONLY choose books from their section {right side} unless a signed parental permission form is on record. 

During Visit to the Bobcat Media Center:

  1. Students may NOT have food or drink in the Bobcat Media Center to drink or eat. The penalty is immediate dismissal.
  2. After signing into Library Trac, students must turn in any books that they are returning or going to renew to the Circulation Station. Students can renew books before leaving the media center.
  3. Student may now browse the shelves in the appropriate area quietly, so that other students will nor be the disturbed.  Loud Talking and Horseplay will result in immediate dismissal with repeat offenders losing media center visit privileges.
  4. Students will have only 15-20 minutes to select a book, check it out, and return to class.  
  5. If a student wishes to read in one of the designated reading areas, they can NOT use a technology device to read.

Book Checkouts, Returns, or Renewals at the Bobcat Media Center:

  1. Student can not checkouts any books for the following reasons: (A) Already has two books checked out (B) Owes for a lost or damaged book, or (C) Owes fees or books at the elementary school.
  2. Once a book has been selected to be checked out or renewed,  the student must come to the Circulation Station. 
  3. The maximum number of books a student may have checked out at one time is TWO books. 
  4. Each book may be renewed twice which gives the student six weeks to complete it.
  5. Students are responsible for the care of the book checked out in their name {including preventing book’s theft}.
  6. There are no daily late fees that accumulate, but, if book is lost stolen, or damaged beyond usage, student will pay a replacement cost {price of book at time of replacement} plus book processing {Labels and covering}.
  7. When leaving the Bobcat Media Center, student must sign out of Library Trac at the sign in/out station and return to their classoom.
