Your Bobcat Media Specialist
Greetings and Salutations!
My name is Robert D. Pickard. I have been a media specialist in Lee County Schools for over twenty years. My media specialist journey has brought me back to where it all started here at Beulah High School. For me, the best part of being a media specialist is seeing a student, especially one who does not or rarely reads, find a book they read and enjoy it so much that it sparks a love for reading – that will create a lifelong reader and learner of what they personally seek to learn about.
Another positive aspect of being a media specialist is helping students learn about and use digital or online resources and productivity tools, along with the knowledge and skills to interact with and use social media in a safe and positive manner to avoid scammers and predators.
I am extremely happy to be here at Beulah School as the media specialist and establish the Bobcat Media Center as the school’s hub of learning, where students and the faculty will have the printed materials and training to achieve their learning goal.
I always stressed to students that Bobcat Media Center collection belongs to them. I need to know what they want to learn about and what type of books they want to read. Using surveys and just “talking” to them, I can find out their reading interests and use that information to build their Bobcat Media Center Book Collection.
